1. What is a Package Substation
A package substation (box-type / prefabricated substation) integrates HV receiving equipment, a distribution transformer and an LV distribution assembly into one or several steel-enclosure compartments according to a defined connection scheme. Factory prefabricated, transported as a whole and put into service once positioned on site, it is a modular alternative to conventional civil-built distribution rooms.
2. Main Components & Functional Systems
A package substation is functionally divided into five functional systems by the industry standard for prefabricated substations (GB/T 17467, IEC 62271-202) — see Components: HV System, Transformer System, LV / Distribution System, Enclosure & Structure and Auxiliary Systems. Cables and connectors are project materials installed to connect the substation, not subsystems of it.
